 Three arrested with over N129 billion counterfeit currencies in Kano. The Kano State Police Command has arrested three persons for allegedly being in possession of counterfeit currencies amounting to N129,542,826,000.  Addressing newsmen at a press briefing on Tuesday, December 10, the command’s spokesperson, SP Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed that the suspects were arrested on December 1 based on credible information received from a Good Samaritan. “Following credible information received from a good Samaritan on the activities of a notorious fraudster around Gwale LGA, Kano State, one Ahmad Abdullahi, ‘m’, 30 years old of Kaga LGA, Borno State. The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Gwale Division Kano, SP Abdurrahim Adamu to lead a team of detectives and ensure the arrest of the suspect.  kidnapper arrested after N15m ransom in Anambra  The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old man, Nwokpoku Emmanuel, for suspected kidnapping and armed robbery. Emmanuel was arrested after he and members of his gang allegedly kidnapped a victim and collected a sum of N15m ransom. In a statement on Saturday, the state police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the kidnapped victim’s red coloured Mercedes Benz GLE 450 was recovered from the suspect.  Ikenga said the police were on the trail of other gang members, especially the leader known as ‘Ebuka.’ The statement read in part, “The Anambra State Police Command have in custody one Nwokpoku Emmanuel(M) aged 34 years from Ebonyi State, living in Oduke-Obosi over a case of armed robbery and kidnapping. “The operatives also recovered from the suspect, the victim’s red coloured Mercedes Benz GLE 450 and activated a plan to arrest other gang members, especially the leader known as Ebuka. “Information revealed that...

 Women in Afghanistan will no longer be allowed to attend nursing and midwifery classes following an edict issued by the Taliban's supreme leader, according to senior employees at institutions offering these courses. Health officials conveyed the directive during a meeting with institute directors in Kabul on Monday, December 2, a public health ministry official told AFP. The official, who was not authorised to speak publicly, said, “There is no official letter, but the directors of institutes were informed in a meeting that women and girls can’t study anymore in their institutes. They were not provided with any details and justification and were just told of the order of the supreme leader and were asked to implement it.” The ruling, which lacks formal documentation, has caused confusion among educational institutions.  Why Simon Ekpa cannot be granted bail - Finnish Official Finnish authorities have provided reasons for why controversial pro-Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa, cannot be granted bail in Finland.  Mikko Laaksonen, a Senior Detective Superintendent at Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation, told Punch newspaper that the Finnish legal system does not allow bail for suspects accused of the type of offences Mr. Ekpa is facing. Ekpa was arrested alongside four others on November 21 on suspicion of terrorist activities. The Finnish police accused him of contributing to violence and crimes against civilians in southeastern Nigeria. The District Court of Päijät-Häme subsequently ordered that Ekpa be imprisoned “with probable cause on suspicion of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent.”  He is set to face charges in May 2025, according to Finnish authorities.
